Welcome to FLINCH "virtual jam site"!
This Ottawa band is influenced by multi-technique music such as FRANK ZAPPA,
JIMI HENDRIX and the VELVET UNDERGROUND!
A groove-based improv band relying on several separate themes.
Flinch have broken up to pursue other musicians
and math studies. Nicki is working on grade tweleve. Peter is attempting
third year stats as well as working with other musicians like Fresh Dogma
who aren't playing much either but he still hangs with them. Mike
has been recovering from cigarette smoking...we aren't playing together
anymore. Both Mike and Nicki played with LINDA AND THE HORMONES for a bit
then backed off that gig too. Nicki played a bit with FRESH DOGMA and then
Peter joined him and that became the end of FLINCH.
The band was a three piece unit with AKA
Mike Melos on guitar, vocals and he wrote some of the songs. He also
did the driving.
Mike hails from Moosejaw. He played with
PSYCHOTIC XMAS, SURTHRIVAL, JOHNNY AND THE JOHNSONS, ROCK AND THE STARS,
BRASS GLASS, and MEAN VALUE THEORUM.
AKA Pete Nasty was the bassist, vocalist
and also wrote songs. Pete's other former bands are elsewhere on this web
site. He's from Hamilton originally but is sort of bi-polar being also
based in Ottawa the last twenty years. He has been playing sucessfully
with his girl friend Jennifer at local fundraising and charity events.
AKA Nicki Rudd was the drummer. Nicki began
in Ottawa at eleven years of age winning a battle of the bands on the Byward
market and proceeded to do regular gigs at Le Hibou on Sussex is currently
in his thirty second year of musicanship. Nicki played with THE MECHANIC
CITY PSYCHOS, SLINGER, SPRING FEVER, but mainly gains his experience in
jam with a variety of musicans.

descent, one northern, one central and one southern lending a mix of musical
sensibilities to their ears.
Bassing, Guitaring and Drumming when you add up our careers have been ongoing
for some separate 61 years. We played together from 1995-1998.
