May 25, 1999. PRESS RELEASEFOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
The Ontario Green Party Celebrates it’s Fifteenth Anniversary on Election Day.
The Party welcomes volunteers, party members, and candidates to a victory celebration at the ClockTower Pub. The celebration will be a traditional Election Day party. Votes will be tallied at the Pub.Unlike major parties we know we will not win. Rather this party will give us a chance to celebrate our volunteering and relax after many long hours of volunteer work. We are hoping each candidate will be able to give a speech.
Formed in 1984 the Green Party of Ontario has put the environmental agenda on the platform for fifteen years. Through five elections the Green Party has had candidates running for elected office in the Legislature of Ontario. Originally a grass roots party the party has gained some sophistication with offices in three major Ontario cities this election.
The Party ran five candidates in the Ottawa region in 1999. Each candidate worked hard. The celebration at the pub is a chance to relax and gather the party faithful in our growing fifteen-year-old party.
Thanks must go out to the Party and it’s members over the years for sustaining not just the party, but a voice for the environment.
